Poker.
I think I'm in love. With poker. Throughout all my years I've tried my best to avoid learning any card games... Mostly because I knew how much I would probably end up loving them. Well, last night my sister had some friends over, the plan was to play some poker. Thankfully I felt well enough to join them and learn how to play this most awesome of awesome games. We didn't play for money, just for fun. And it was soooo fun, I can't wait to play again, I'm counting the hours, minutes, seconds till our next game. Plus it's so good hanging out with people, much easier than it was before. I still get tired, but it's not as bad.
And the trash talk, that is my favorite part of poker.
But don't worry. I will never play for money. I hate losing, but I especially hate losing money, especially like that. I'd rather get mugged than lose money in a card game.
Pssst... (the Suns won again last night! Thought you'd like to know :)

I play poker online at a site called Pogo.. it's free to join or you can have a club membership and play any game without restrictions.. plus download free trials..
www.pogo.com
I go by fidgiesmom2 there..
Oops I pay about 40 bucks a year.. for club pogo..by credit card.. it's well worth and you can win badges...
I don't know any card games either, pretty sad considering pinocle and poker are really popular in my family.
I play dress poker. Everytime you lose you have to put on another article of clothing. I had a friend who was such a lousy player he was crushed to death under the weight of all that clothing.
Oh yes poker. Loved by many I know. Glad you are having fun. Good for your Suns! Kings play Lakers tonight. Hope they win.
I've never played poker. I know maybe that spades are good things to have. Playing cards requires me to be in a room with lots of loud people slamming things on tables and drinking Schlitz. Not really my thing, but I'm willing to learn in a more controlled, less ghettoey environment.
I envy people who understand those games and win. The last time I tried it's true I was still pretty much a kid, but I was so bad at it it just made me feel like a moron.
How I love trash talk during poker. The insults! The knocks! Mimicry! Sarcasm! It's at least half the fun of poker for me!
poker is fun, but i prefer spades because you don't need a poker face. i definitely don't have one of those.
Bluffing dude. It's the art of poker.
The bluff.
We play a lot with the kids...we have casino type chips...and play a few different variaties of the game... 'Texas hold em' is our Fav...Goin "All in" is a great fun
If you wan tto play for free with others, go to pokerstars.net. You can download their software for free and they give you play money to use. Tournaments, live games, they have it all. Try it out.
You know my poker obsession. I don't really believe in trash talking and such, it's more of a serious, quiet, thing for me and my friends, but I see where you are coming from.
Small world or something--I played for the first time in years last week---killed 'em. Just slaughtered the lambs. They were asking for it, bless them.
Babybull: Cool! Thanks... I just checked out pokerstars.net, think that's the one with all the commercials, seems very fun, and free, but it's addictive!
Silverneurotic: Awww, you should learn... unless you think you'll get addicted!
Bice: I LOVE that idea! That would be slow agonizingly terrible...
Glorious: I caught that game! Great game, Kobe, 42 points, some great shots. My Suns won again tonight, by like 26!!! Woohooo!
Fringes: Haha, I like all the noise, I think it's a fun element...
Mariana: Yeah, I'm assuming it's one of those things you just need to get used to. Experience goes a long ways for card games.
Sonja: The trash talk is what the game is all about!!!
Hedy de Vine: NEver played that... Yeah, getting a good poker face is hard I guess, specially once you bet for lots of money.
WAT: You a good poker player WAT??? Sounds like you're a shark!
Shaymus: Haha, great game for the family!
Mrmanuel: Thanks, that site is great!
Taarzaan: I wouldn't go up against you. Do they call you 'The Butcher'?
Glad you like the site. It is pretty addictive. It is fake money, but I still worked for a year on getting that $1000 in fake money higher and higher. Haven't played in a while, but I think I have around 2.5 million in fake chips.
I used to play poker years ago and we would use pennies, nickels and dimes only. All money went back into the change jar at the end of the night. Bluffing is fun.
Uhhh.. Squirrels are cool. I have one that visits me daily. He used to live in my walls and I had him kicked out. He hasn't forgiven me but I put out sunflower seeds for him. Maybe I should put out camel reds instead.
I used to play poker all the time. I was a semi-pro there for a while. I love the game as well. But I also hate losing, especially when I do everything right and just get unlucky. Oh well. I think I'd still take that over a mugging though. Nice blog, by the way.
Mrmanuel: Oh man, you are good! That site is addictive for sure... Hmmm, I hear it calling my name right now.
Babs: Oh yeah, I bet he'll love the camel reds! Leave him a book too, preferably one dealing with existential philosophy, squirrels tend to be a little pretentious...
Battlerocker: Wow, that's impressive! Yeah, there is a good amount of chance in the game. Thanks for the compliment and thanks for visiting!
