New Drawing. Music Stuff. Deadliest Catch.

Newer version of the drawing (I simplified things just a little bit)...

Older version...

This is another drawing based on one of my childhood memories. In the drawing, I'm the kid wearing the weird, bear-hoodie thingy (it was in style in those days, in fact, I think it still is).

So, sometimes I'd get together with my buddies, and we'd venture out into the nearby desert. Every once in a while we'd manage to catch eyeball snakes. It was pretty cool. The blind-looking mini-polar bear wearing the red glasses, his name was Baxter, he was especially fascinated with the eyeball snakes. Unfortunately, he got eaten by an eyeball snake on one of our trips. That was kind of a let down.

I could easily write more about my childhood, but I'd like to write about some other topics.

Music Stuff
I have a couple music things I'd like to mention. One of my friends is a great composer. He crafts wonderful amazing songs, and he records everything on his own which I think is super cool. If you get a chance, please check his songs out. Here is a link to his work. I'm sure you will enjoy his music, it's amazing!

I also have another friend (who'dda thunkit!), his name is Dawen Wang, and he is trying to win a music competition. He is a GREAT singer, and he needs votes. So if you can, go to this site and listen to his song and vote for him! If he gets enough votes he will get his song played on the radio! And that will be a huge step for him in his quest to conquer the world.

TV Stuff
In other news, I started watching this show on tv, it's called the Deadliest Catch. It's quite a great show, all about people who go fishing in the Bering Sea. The footage is very impressive... fishing in those waters near Alaska seems like a very dangerous business. Although, I haven't seen any sharks so far, which means the fishing can't be all that dangerous. And now that I think about it, I haven't even seen any crocodiles, nor any barracudas. Nor the most dangerous of all the sea creatures, a creature named Shamu, better known as the killer whale that always has first degree murder on its mind. And I haven't even seen a measly electric eel on this show. I guess this program isn't as scary as I initially thought. Doesn't quite live up to the title. These fisherman mostly spend their time catching crab, and I gotta say, I stopped being scared of that creature when I turned 19, so the fear factor just isn't there for me. Well, I guess if I try hard enough I can be scared of a crab.

In spite of the lack of sharks, crocodiles, and other such dangerous creatures, the Deadliest Catch is good, I recommend watching it. So, if you are ever bored and want to watch people fishing on tv in your spare time, this show is for you. It's on the Discovery Channel.

Television. It's Great.

Ok, I haven't spent much time today on the computer, so I'm a bit behind on the blogs. I've been trying to rest because my body is so tired from all the damn headaches... but there is good news from all this resting. It means I watched lots of television. And watching television means I learned tons of kickass shit.

And I suppose this a bit of a rant, but hey, I've felt like pretty bad these past weeks so I'm allowed!

First off, I watched a lot of celebrity stuff. Which allowed me to find out that Sandra Bullock has a new movie coming out. The movie's premise made me laugh because it's been done about a zillion times, you know, stuff about reliving the same day. The movie is called Premonition, and I'm not going to say I have a premonition about how crappy this movie is going to be because that is such an obvious joke to make. I guess I just did. Oh well.

Secondly. I feel like my mind is hallucinating, like I took acid and I'm seeing machete wielding tyrannasaurus rexes who are wearing bandanas and sporting gnarly tattoos, because I can't believe what I'm seeing on tv. Is that show about Hugh Hefner's girlfriends for real (it's called The Girls Next Door)? I don't get it. Is that show a joke, or a parody of a parody, because it's as ridiculous, boring, and as insanely stupid as anything I've ever seen. Yet, somehow all those things combine to make it a great, captivating show! And I'm a huge fan of Kendra, the sporty chick... But seriously, I can't figure out if that show is made by left wing anti-capitalists who are trying to show us the perils of our consumer/sex obsessed society... because you couldn't make a better argument against the pitfalls of capitalism than you could with that show. I feel like behind the show's facade is a thick layer of irony... I bet it's produced by Noam Chomsky.

And the thought of Hef banging all those 20 something foxes, there is something so icky and twisted about that. Well, he's from Chicago, so his show gets a pass in my book, but just barely.

The Hef show is almost as ridiculous as that Flavor Flav show I saw a while back. But Flavor Flav is slightly more hilarious, and he gave out giant clocks. Giant clocks are always awesome and that's what made Flav's show a smashing success in my eyes. And I also learned that money buys love from that show. Which is a good thing to know, and it's a rule that Hef's show certainly reinforced.

Unfortunately, in all my tv viewing, I didn't catch any news on Paris Hilton. I love Paris. She is a true guilty pleasure for me. And I have a feeling she goes home at night and studies St. Augustine or something spiritual and intellectual like that. She is deeper than we think. You know what, I bet she also reads Noam Chomsky at night and she's the producer/force behind the anti-capitalistic Hefner show. It all makes sense.

I also saw a movie called Layer Cake featuring Daniel Craig. Actually I only saw the second half of the movie, and I had no freakin' clue what was going on. One guy gets his head chopped off which is then put in a freezer box, I have no clue why they chopped his head off, probably running his mouth off or something. Maybe he was a rat. Rats deserve to have their heads put in ice boxes. Which reminds me I need to get one of those Don't Snitch t-shirts.

Anyways. I was surprised when some random guy randomnly and much to my chagrin gets a bullet between the eyes. Which was sad but I didn't have the time to mourn the loss of this random character, because all of a sudden Craig is about to have sex with a nice looking blonde, which refocuses my attention away from guy with bullet in head to hot steamy sex with foxy blonde. But the idiot director decides to cut this sex scene short because Craig gets kidnapped by a bunch of random spoilsports (probably jealous of Craig being with the foxy blonde I assume) and then some old guy offers Craig money for drugs but you know the old guy is gonna screw him so then lots of people get shot and I have no clue what this movie was about. And the SWAT team is in cahoots with the bad guys which is great I guess.

I may have mixed up facts and sequences of the movie. But all I know is that the violence was certainly wonderful and executed at a very high level of sadisticness. But the sex wasn't nearly enough, specially considering the one sex scene I saw was interrupted by that stupid kidnapping. And sex counts in my book.

I'm never going to let my kids watch tv. Well, I'll let them, but only if they watch with wry smiles on their faces.

Sports Heaven? NFL Playoffs and B-ball. Television and What It Means To Me.

My diatribe is unoriginal and my viewpoint is probably shared by many. That being said, I'm still going to spill my silly, caustic, unoriginal thoughts...

Do you like violence? Crazy people plastering each other with bone-crunching hits? Seemingly pointless violence all in the name of some fictitious glory? If so, then the NFL playoffs are for you!!!

Yeah, you need to grapple with the irony and contradictions and silliness that mar professional sports. Especially professional football. But once you get the irony, the silliness, once you get past the fact that these grown men are willingly punishing and torturing their bodies all while trying to manipulate a ball so that the little orb does their bidding and they can 'win' a game... well, once you get past that it's very easy to enjoy the game, and believe in this magical realm of heroes and heroic plays...

Did I say heroes? Heroic plays? Well, I have a feeling that my heavy-handed sarcasm has already given you an idea of how tired I am of sports announcers, reporters, and many others who go on and on about how some player is such a goddamn hero. This player, this person, he plays a 'game' for a living, makes millions of dollars while doing it, seriously, I hate how the term heroic is tossed around in the sport's world with such flippancy. Anyways, that said, I do have a decent amount of respect for a lot of these athletes. Many work very hard, and have pretty amazing talents.

It's too easy to rip on professional sports, but televised sporting events have been a great diversion for me during my illness. Believe it or not (probably not) after my spiteful diatribe... I even find some inspiration in the sports world... I guess I just have a split personality when it comes to sports, a love hate thing going.

I think the main thing that angers me is this: had I been healthy I wouldn't have been wasting my time with television and sports. I never watched tv before I got sick, so in a sense the unwitting tv symbolizes my illness and weakness. Poor tv did nothing to me, it's actually helped a lot, but it stands for bad things to me, namely my being too ill to do anything over than watching television. Sure, I know what you're thinking, Sebastien, just don't watch tv, rest in your bed or something. I did that, trust me, for months and months... but I found that the television fills a vacuum and distracts my mind, distracts me from pain or fatigue or both those things... And there's this vicarious thing I got going with sports, it helps me dream...

I know. I'm coming across as overly bitter and frustrated. My head's just hurting a bit at the moment, but you know, I am seriously thankful to just be alive. Nothing like remembering all the pain I've gone through and just being thankful, thankful to breath this air and able to see the world and be with people I love.

Anyways, we got some good games today! Colts at the Ravens, oh boy oh boy! I'm cheering for the Colts (I spent a good part of my youth in Indy)... and then we got the Eagles at the Saints later! Go Saints, I'm cheering for them because I like the city of New Orleans, and Reggie Bush, that guy is great. Tonight, we even got some b-ball on tv, Magic at the Suns... Wow, this is like serious overload, and tomorrow, Patriots at the Chargers, now that is gonna be a game!

What a great sports weekend.

Why is channel 52 so awesome?

Because it is the E channel... A channel full of entertainment, celebrities, filled with all sorts of magical, delirious, mad-cap adventures and wacky celeb beefs and sex and and backstabbing and intrigue and crime. I LOVE IT! Quite frankly, I didn't even know reality could stretch that far, until I started watching E.

So last night there was a show on this channel, all about celebrities and people who try to extort them for money. A show like this, well, I refer to it as Grade A entertainment, pure uncut glee and phantasmagoric explosions of unbelievable hilarity and naughtiness. Moreover, I learned a slew of valuable lessons. The main lesson I learned was, be careful when you make sex videos. You got a decent chance that's gonna get out one way or another. It's obvious, but I'm just saying.

I didn't make it through the whole show unfortunately. It mostly revolved around some person having lewd pictures or sex tapes of some celebrity(you'd be amazed at the variety of ways the criminals came up with such tapes or pics, sometimes it's even your husband who has a sex tape and extorts you!!!!). The best was seeing Joe Francis(the guy who does Girls Gone Wild) get humiliated in his extortion case. That guy is a slimeball so I don't feel too much shame in seeing him embarrassed.

Got some good tv viewing under my belt

FLAVOR OF LOVE
First off, I keep coming across this show, Flavor of Love. Now, I love Flavor Flav, I mean, I enjoyed the music he made back in the good old days. But what is this show about? Is this not one of the most misognyistic shows ever? I keep catching this thing at the end, and it seems so stupidly bad, but there's a tiny part of me that keeps begging for more and enjoys not knowing what this train wreck is about. And can you believe that one girl was a porn star, no, seriously, she was a porn star. Well I think that's coooooollll. This show gets upgraded in my book for the random, unwarranted, backstabbing bitchiness that takes place.

MURDER
Secondly, two thumbs up for all the shows on tv about the mafia, gangsters, MS13, Alcatraz, and various top security federal penitentiaries. Who knew I could learn so much, so quickly, about things I never wanted to know about. I think I've had my fill of murder for the week. Thanks to all those top flight learning channels on tv, gangsters are now on my to fear list.

THE SOUP
I like this show.
