Bond Movie: Casino Royale
So, what did I think? First off, I'm thankful they did away with all the gadget nonsense, freakin' fluff is what that was!Well, the intro scene was the best, with Bond and bad guy jumping off one crane to another, running around kinda parkour style, and it was filmed in a really cool way, so I loved that beginning! Other than that, the movie was so so I thought. Definitely very gritty at times, and damn, the torture scene was, well, let's just say I WILL be having nightmares about that. Cracked me up that the bad guy was a French guy named 'Le Chiffre'!!!! I thought Daniel Craig was good, I feel like the cameramen focused so much on his eyes, I could freakin' paint them from memory if I had to... Craig does make for a great Bond.
Ok, you can stop reading at this point if you haven't seen the movie, I divulge important information. Sorry goes out to Shaymus, I have already ruined his Bond viewing experience.
Anyways, I have a feeling some parts were seriously edited, like, where the hell was a classic car chase, come on, in that sweet Aston Martin, how could you not film such a scene? Plus the poker game, there were some really weird cuts that made no sense to me. And gaaawwwdd, this movie was boring at times, the ending, I mean, do I need to see the girl literally drowning, you know, that's just weird (maybe you dug that part, I didn't). I think they were trying to be very visceral, but sometimes I just felt they were being very brutal and gritty with no reason. Style for style's sake is cool, but when substance is lacking, it gets a bit tiresome. Hell, it's a Bond, so what can you expect. It's a good Bond nevertheless, but I've definitely seen a lot better action flicks than this one.

Wow, this new Bond film has really brought back the whole franchise back to life! I really thought the whole damn thing was dead and no one cared for 007 films, but it looks as though the crew behind this latest film really did their homework and made a very satisfying good film.
I will be quite happy when the hoopla of Bond is finished until the next movie. Everywhere I go, I'm faced with Bond.
Never was a big Bond fan. Actually haven't seen one since Timothy Dalton. This one interests me slightly because i doesn't appear to have as many of the silly gadgets and stuff. Still, I'll probably skip it. Sorry it wasn't as good as you wanted it to be.
WAT: Yeah, I think this new Bond does breathe some new life into the series. I don't know how many more are left to make though.
Silverneurotic: Haha, I guess it is a bit ubiquitous every time a Bond comes out you can't escape the fact.
Mrmanuel: Oh, I didn't mind, it was just fun leaving the house, plus I like psyching myself up for silly things, even if they don't meet expectations...
I liked this one, actually. Modern issue and less gadgets was good. But the ending was too scattered and not very well connected, I think.
Yeah, it got a little long-winded...
gee thanks Seb....the girl drowns in the end.....Ok then....I've been to see Phantom of the Opera and the guy in the mask did it!!!
hahaha, I'm sorry, maybe I should've put a disclaimer up!!!! My bad!
Its ok...those bond girls come in packets of 10 anyway ;)
it's with a great sense of pride that I declare that I have never seen a single bond movie in the entire history of the franchise.
How have I lived? Unencumbered actually! Sleep like a baby too.
So, it's not what you would call a romantic movie? I've found another thing I don't like in the new Bond's look: his haircut. I think it's more for a villain type than a hero.
Thats another black mark for you Allen.....when you get to 10 a kitten dies!!!
Shaymus: Haha, this is true, but not exactly so in this flick. So how many black marks has Allen amassed?
Allen: That's very awesome, reminds me of my friend who never tried Coke. I think at heart he hated US pop culture.
Mariana: His hair? I never thought of that. He does look like the villain type, he's got bulldog features and everything.
2....now...the other was for hating sport
I see, well, he's got a ways to go.
Im with ya. I didnt dig the end and its really up to the next film to pull it all together. If they are to do it right they will do a version LIVE AND LET DIE if they are following the novels. This was very close to the book. much closer than any Bond film in the past.
I just cant get over Daniel Craig's face. Hes got a great body but an ugly mug. But then again Roger Moore wasn't that great looking either and Sean Connery looked pretty paunchy in Diamonds Are Forever so... I guess looks dont count. Oh and there are none left to make. With this film EON productions has covered the entire Ian Flemming catalog. They are left with remaking the titles now or aking them up as they go along.
Scotty: I didn't know that they didn't have any more to make!
I think Craig has an interesting face, I like that bulldog look, his body is just a little too gym muscled for a Bond in my opinion...
So they will be remaking old ones, or making up new ones? I think they should make new scripts up, but they should keep taking the series in the direction they were going with this new Bond.
When you say that you have seen much better action flicks than Casino Royale, I assume you are referencing IN THE LINE OF FIRE. Dare I say that that is perhaps the best action movie of all time?
"Abe, if she looks back, she's interested." Awesome.
OMG!!! You had to bring that up! You just had to. Oh man, I can picture the big fat smile you had on your face when you wrote this comment!
